Chiara says: I am 10 years old and my dad bought me this lovely skirt and also a Holister sweatshirt, not photographed. I totally love this skirt! I wear it all the time and I cant wait to wear it in the winter with boots and my Holister sweatshirt. Here I am wearing it with a blue holister T shirt. I think its brilliant. All my friends love it and they also buy Hollister and so does my cousin who is 13.
Mum says: This is a bad buy and I would never buy again in Hollister. My husband went with my daughter to buy a dress which she so badly needed and he came back with this skirt and sweatshirt. Firstly, the price is ridiculous for a child’s skirt which will not fit her in a couple of months time. It was so dark in the store that my husband couldn’t see the price, and was too embarrassed to walk away when then assistant rang it up on the till. Secondly, the fabric snagged in the first days wear, leaving a long small tear in the fabric. It catches on everything and I don’t think it is good for kids wear as they are always falling over and crashing into things. It picks up stains really easily too and basically I think this is just an adult garment shrunk smaller for kids to wear and not enough effort went into the thought process of who was going to wear it. Hollister may think older teenagers buy their stuff but all the 10 year olds I know, in particular the girls, are mad for Hollister. Of course, the kids are crazy for Hollister and no doubt some of their garments are better made and more substantial, but I do not think this good value for money at all and when we pay for labels like Hollister, we are paying for a very worked up marketing and advertising campaign with big models and not the garment itself which probably cost a fraction of the overall price to get manufactured in China. I suppose to be fair it is stylish and looks lovely but it is a case of style over substance. Not happy.
