Yesterday early evening we were invited to the press day of H&M autumn winter 2013. Press days are always a pleasure, and the press girls at H&M are firm favourites here at MFR. Check out the lovely Claire Wakeman in the black short jacket with white embroidery. The venue was at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms off Denmark Street London W1. With cool paint splattered interiors, this was a fitting environment for the creative process, and the cocktails and platters of food, served by immaculate great looking guys were a welcome touch after a hard day fashionising…..
We think that H&M have come such a long way from the days of being just a T shirt and leggings company. If you think of the collaborations H&M have undertaken with highest level designs such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Madonna, Matthew Williamson and Lanvin to mention a few, this company have been very smart in moving themselves into position for being a high street label capable of delivering high end design. This autumn winter woman’s wear collection was edgy and cool, with strong bohemian vibes and a good dash of ethnic styling. Rich embroideries, (fake) furs and, my personal favourite, a circular short skirt with patterned cut outs, stood out. The colours were in the main black and white, with some softer blush in chiffon and also a wonderful fake fur jacket.
The menswear had some surprises. Along with all the wearable stuff were some great printed jeans and shirts. Take a look for yourselves, but you need to wait for autumn to buy. We took so many photos that we decided to separate the mens wear and womens wear into two separate posts. Enjoy! All photography by Ashley Cao for MyFashionReview. Welcome to the team Ashley!
